{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-156.503","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 156.503","heading":"Committee to study basketball tournaments -- Membership -- Meetings","body":"and recommendations.\n(1) The agency designated by the Kentucky Board of Education to manage\ninterscholastic athletics shall appoint a committee by September 1, 2002, to study\nthe current format and scheduling of the state girls and boys high school basketball\ntournaments and consider the pros and cons of the scheduling, taking into\nconsideration the physical and mental demands on the players, the impact on the\nschool instructional cale ndar, the availability of facilities, and other related factors\nas determined by the committee.\n(2) The committee shall consist of the following representatives, one (1) of whom shall\nbe male, and one (1) of whom shall be female, except in paragraphs (f) and (i):\n(a) Two (2) coaches, who may be active or former coaches;\n(b) Two (2) current superintendents of school districts that have high school\nathletic programs;\n(c) Two (2) current high school principals;\n(d) Two (2) former players, who participated in at least one (1) state tournament;\n(e) Two (2) athletic directors, active or former;\n(f) Two (2) former members of the board of control of the high school athletic\nassociation designated by the state board to govern interscholastic athletics;\n(g) Two (2) active referees;\n(h) Two (2) citizen members; and\n(i) Two (2) members of the General Assembly, one (1) appointed by the Senate\nPresident and one (1) appointed by the Speaker of the House.\n(3) Representation appointed to the committee pursuant to subsection ( 2)(f) and (i) of\nthis section may be based on gender equity if female candidates are available.\n(4) The committee shall meet as needed during the 2002 -2003 school year and make\nrecommendations to the board of control of the athletics association prior to t he\nscheduling of the high school tournaments for the 2003 -2004 school year.
