{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-156.560","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 156.560","heading":"Pilot program for performance -based professional development --","body":"Parameters determined by local board -- Study and report by Department of\nEducation.\n(1) (a) Beginning in the 2023 -2024 school year, and continuing until the end of the\n2025-2026 school year, a school district may establish a pilot program for\nteachers to develop and implement a performance -based professional\ndevelopment project, which is designed to produce measurable outcomes of\npositive impact on student performance.\n(b) The pi lot program shall require two (2) or more teachers to design an\ninstructional practice or strategy project to address an identified school or\ndistrict academic or nonacademic classroom problem.\n(c) Successful completion of a project under this section shal l satisfy up to three\n(3) days of the requirement to complete four (4) days of professional\ndevelopment under KRS 158.070(3)(a).\n(d) A local board of education may award a teacher a stipend for successful\ncompletion of a project.\n(2) The local board of edu cation shall determine the parameters for the performance -\nbased professional development pilot program, including but not limited to:\n(a) A project application process;\n(b) Review and approval of project proposals;\n(c) Submission of completed project analysis and results;\n(d) Evaluation of completed projects;\n(e) The awarding of professional development credit, including the amount of the\ncredit and when it will be credited; and\n(f) The awarding of a stipend, if applicable.\n(3) (a) The Kentucky Department of Education shall study the completed pilot\nprojects for their impact on schools and districts to determine the attributes of\nquality performance -based professional development and the best practices\nfor measuring its effectiveness.\n(b) By August 1, 2027, the department shall report its findings and any\nrecommendations for revising professional development policy to the Interim\nJoint Committee on Education.","path":["KRS Chapter 156"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=53744","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:00Z","sha256":"94662cdc102125540536b2ad6956e62c0453468fb7602a11cf69549d75aab383","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-156.557","next":"us-ky/krs-156.565"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
