{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-156.675","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 156.675","heading":"Prevention of transmission of social media and sexually explicit materials","body":"to schools -- Administrative regulations -- Local school district policy on\nstudent internet access -- Limitation.\n(1) The Kentucky Board of Education shall promulgate  administrative regulations to\nprevent social media and sexually explicit material from being transmitted via any\nvideo or computer system, software or hardware product, or internet service\nmanaged or provided to local schools or school districts.\n(2) Each local school district and school shall utilize the latest available filtering\ntechnology to ensure that social media and sexually explicit material is not made\navailable to students.\n(3) The Kentucky Department of Education shall make available to school districts and\nschools upon request and without cost, state-of-the-art software products that enable\nlocal districts and schools to prevent access to social media and sexually explicit\nmaterial. The department shall also notify all school districts and scho ols of the\navailability of the software. Any product provided or obtained by a district or\nschool shall meet the requirements of subsection (2) of this section.\n(4) Each local school district shall establish a policy regarding student internet access\nthat shall include but not be limited to parental consent for student internet use,\nteacher supervision of student computer use, and auditing procedures to determine\nwhether education technology is being used for the purpose of accessing social\nmedia or sexually explicit or other objectionable material.\n(5) The provisions of subsections (1) to (4) of this section shall only apply to social\nmedia that a student is not authorized by a teacher to access for an instructional\npurpose.","path":["KRS Chapter 156"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=56310","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:01Z","sha256":"6a6c9830faa4e7bb108dae3074e4f09698245144bca37d3bad4e59420b84083d","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-156.671","next":"us-ky/krs-156.690"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
