{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-156.860","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 156.860","heading":"Medical and accident insurance for students.","body":"(1) The Kentucky Board of Education is authorized to provide medical and accident\ninsurance for students enrolled in the state secondary area technology centers and\narea vocational education centers. The Department of Education may enter into a\ncontract or con tracts with one (1) or more sureties or insurance companies or their\nagents to provide appropriate medical and accident insurance coverage and to\nprovide group coverage to all students enrolled in state -operated schools under its\njurisdiction. The appropri ate group coverage shall be issued by one (1) or more\nsureties or insurance companies authorized to transact business in this state, and\nsuch coverage shall be approved by the commissioner of insurance.\n(2) The Kentucky Board of Education shall promulgate administrative regulations to\nimplement the medical and accident insurance program. The Kentucky Board of\nEducation may fix the rate of fees for all secondary students, the provisions of KRS\n156.856 with respect to fees for secondary students notwithstandi ng, as he or she\ndeems necessary to meet the expense in whole or in part for appropriate student\nmedical and accident insurance.\n(3) The limits of liability and other appropriate provisions for student medical and\naccident insurance authorized by this sect ion shall be set by the Kentucky Board of\nEducation.","path":["KRS Chapter 156"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=42207","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:01Z","sha256":"9ba504d775aad3d35badfca531c6328c4facb0b3d6ab591fc77491ffeec2aaf8","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-156.858","next":"us-ky/krs-156.990"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
