{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-158.102","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 158.102","heading":"Requirement for library media center -- Employment of librarian.","body":"(1) The board of education for each local school district shall establish and maintain a\nlibrary media center in every elementary and secondary school to promote\ninformation literacy and technology in the curriculum, and to facilitate teaching,\nstudent achievement, and lifelong learning.\n(2) (a) Schools shall employ a school media librarian to organize, equip, and manage\nthe operations of the school media library. The school media librarian shall\nhold the appropriate certificate of legal qualifications in accor dance with KRS\n161.020 and 161.030. A certified school media librarian may be employed to\nserve two (2) or more schools in a school district with the consent of the\nschool councils.\n(b) If a vacancy occurs, the school council may fill the vacancy on a temp orary\nbasis by employing:\n1. A person who is pursuing certification as a school media librarian in\naccordance with administrative regulations promulgated by the\nEducation Professional Standards Board; or\n2.
