{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-158.177","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 158.177","heading":"Teaching of evolution -- Right to include Bible theory of creation.","body":"(1) In any public school instruction concerning the theories of the creation of man and\nthe earth, and which involves the theory thereon commonly known as evolution, any\nteacher so desiring may include as a portion of such instruction the theory of\ncreation as presented in the Bible, and may accordingly read such passages in the\nBible as are deemed necessary for instruction on the theory of creation, thereby\naffording students a choice as to which such theory to accept.\n(2) For those students receiving such ins truction, and who accept the Bible theory of\ncreation, credit shall be permitted on any examination in which adherence to such\ntheory is propounded, provided the response is correct according to the instruction\nreceived.\n(3) No teacher in a public school m ay stress any particular denominational religious\nbelief.\n(4) This section is not to be construed as being adverse to any decision which has been\nrendered by any court of competent jurisdiction.","path":["KRS Chapter 158"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=3462","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:04Z","sha256":"858f0eac4cc5476ef1cf12ff4d177f13a5f3dd1e1339d4f7703cb30683534f58","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-158.175","next":"us-ky/krs-158.178"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
