{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-158.178","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 158.178","heading":"Ten Commandments to be displayed.","body":"(1) It shall be the duty of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, provided sufficient\nfunds are available as provided in subsection (3) of this section, to ensure that a\ndurable, permanent copy of the Ten Commandments shall be displayed on a wall in\neach public elementary and secondary school classroom in the Commonwealth. The\ncopy shall be sixteen (16) inches wide by twenty (20) inches high.\n(2) In small print below the last commandment shall appear a notation concerning the\npurpose of the display, as foll ows: \"The secular application of the Ten\nCommandments is clearly seen in its adoption as the fundamental legal code of\nWestern Civilization and the Common Law of the United States.\"\n(3) The copies required by this section shall be purchased with funds made  available\nthrough voluntary contributions made to the State Treasurer for the purposes of this\nsection.","path":["KRS Chapter 158"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=3463","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:04Z","sha256":"9271e6756357a84f003ef2290706b16346078a09bf15783563ab63df46bd9919","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-158.177","next":"us-ky/krs-158.180"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
