{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-158.281","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 158.281","heading":"Definitions for KRS 156.476, 158.281, 158.282, and 161.051.","body":"As used in KRS 156.476, 158.282, 161.051, and this section:\n(1) \"Braille\" means the system of reading and writing through touch commonly known\nas Standard English Braille;\n(2) \"Individualized education program (IEP)\" means a written statement developed for\nan exceptional student eligible for special education services in accordance with\nadministrative regulations promulgated pursuant to KRS 157.200 to 157.290;\n(3) \"Blind student\" means a student between the ages of three (3) and twenty -one (21)\nfor whom an individualized education program is required and who:\n(a) Has a visual acuity of 20/200 or less in the better eye with correcting lenses or\nhas a limited field of vision such that the widest diameter subtends an angular\ndistance of no greater than twenty degrees; or\n(b) Has a medically indicated expectation of visual deterioration which would\nbring the student within the provisions of subsection (3)(a) of this section; or\n(c) Functions as if he is blind even though the student may not technically meet\nthe visual acuity or medical standards set forth in this subsection.","path":["KRS Chapter 158"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=3485","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:04Z","sha256":"338c86c1e25a23d1bb5bf7d531e22cc93d45c2637499adb63e677562621535d2","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-158.280","next":"us-ky/krs-158.282"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
