{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-158.486","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 158.486","heading":"School bus stop arm camera monitoring systems -- Enforcement of","body":"violations -- Use of recorded images.\n(1) A school district may install and maintain a camera monitoring system on any\nschool bus operated by the school district for the enforcem ent of a civil penalty\nagainst the owner of a motor vehicle for a stop arm camera violation.\n(2) A school district may contract with a private vendor or manufacturer to install,\noperate, and maintain camera monitoring systems on school buses operated by th e\nschool district.\n(3) A stop arm camera violation may be enforced by a law enforcement agency, a\ncertified peace officer, or a school resource officer as defined in KRS 158.441,\nupon review of the recorded images produced by a camera monitoring system.\n(4) A school bus with a camera monitoring system installed and maintained in\naccordance with this section shall display a warning sign notifying the public of the\ncamera monitoring system.\n(5) Recorded images and other records related to a specific stop arm camera violation\nare private information and shall only be accessible to authorized personnel for the\npurpose of enforcing stop arm camera violations.","path":["KRS Chapter 158"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57411","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:05Z","sha256":"e96a05fc50b3b4eeb3e81df267c2814a88dc8207b2a2d2d20273e1773d0759e1","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-158.485","next":"us-ky/krs-158.487"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
