(Effective until January 1,\n2027)\n(1) A permanent subcommittee of the Legislative Research Commission to be known\nas the Education Assessment and Accountability Review Subcommittee is hereby\ncreated. The subcommittee shall be composed of eight (8) members appointed as\nfollows: three (3) members of the Senate appointed by the President of the Senate;\none (1) member of the minority party in the Senate appointed by the Minority Floor\nLeader in the Senate; three (3) members of the House of Representatives appointed\nby the Speaker of the House of Representatives; and one (1) member of the\nminority party in the House of Representatives appoi nted by the Minority Floor\nLeader in the House of Representatives. Members of the subcommittee shall serve\nfor terms of two (2) years, and the members appointed from each chamber shall\nelect one (1) member from their chamber to serve as co -chair. The co -chairs shall\nhave joint responsibilities for subcommittee meeting agendas and presiding at\nsubcommittee meetings. A majority of the entire membership of the Education\nAssessment and Accountability Review Subcommittee shall constitute a quorum,\nand all action s of the subcommittee shall be by vote of a majority of its entire\nmembership. Any vacancy that may occur in the membership of the subcommittee\nshall be filled by the same appointing authority who made the original appointment.\n(2) The subcommittee shall r eview administrative regulations and advise the Kentucky\nBoard of Education concerning the implementation of the state system of\nassessment and accountability, established in KRS 158.6453, 158.6455, and\n158.782, and for any administrative regulation promul gated under provisions of\nKRS 158.860.\n(3) The subcommittee may temporarily authorize the Kentucky Department of\nEducation or Kentucky Board of Education to require a new report that is not\nexpressly required by state statute or federal law while the Gener al Assembly is not\nin session. The temporary authorization shall expire upon the sine die adjournment\nof the next regular session of the General Assembly.\n(4) The subcommittee shall advise and monitor the Office of Education Accountability\nin the performance of its duties according to the provisions of KRS 7.410.\n(5) On an alternating basis, each co -chair shall have the first option to set the monthly\nmeeting date. A monthly meeting may be canceled by agreement of both co -chairs.\nThe members of the subcommi ttee shall be compensated for attending meetings as\nprovided in KRS 7.090.\n(6) Any professional, clerical, or other employees required by the subcommittee shall\nbe provided in accordance with the provisions of KRS 7.090.\nEffective: July 1, 2026","path":["KRS Chapter 158"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57160","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:06Z","sha256":"6171fe84b546b7a61ee3b2370f83438d07eec61f9a9364a4b40c5267a1582e01","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-158.646","next":"us-ky/krs-158.6471"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
