{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-158.7603","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 158.7603","heading":"School -to-Careers Grant Program -- Authority for administrative","body":"regulations -- Advisory committee.\n(1) The School-to-Careers Grant Program shall be provided by the General Assembly\nto provide matching funds to school districts or consortia of school districts for the\ndevelopment and implementation of comprehensive plans that include:\n(a) A comprehensive career awareness and exploration program for all students in\ngrades K-8 to include study of Kentucky's fourteen (14) career clusters;\n(b) High level a cademic and vocational courses for all secondary students to\nreplace a general track curriculum;\n(c) A comprehensive career guidance program to assist all secondary students in\ndeveloping individual graduation plans;\n(d) Applied academic instructional mode ls for all disciplines and integration of\nacademics and vocational education curriculum;\n(e) Implementation of industry skill standards within all relevant academic and\nvocational education programs;\n(f) Planned instructional programs to meet the needs of students with disabilities\nand other special needs students;\n(g) Opportunity for students to receive, in addition to a high school diploma, a\nCareer Major Certificate upon completion of the high school graduation\nrequirements, work -based learning experienc es, specific course work, and a\ncareer culminating project;\n(h) Opportunity for students to participate in structured workbased learning;\n(i) Linkages with postsecondary institutions that create a smooth and seamless\ntransition from secondary to postsecondary education;\n(j) Professional development for faculty and staff focused on developing\nintegrated and applied curriculum; and\n(k) A School -to-Careers Partnership Council composed of representatives of\nbusiness, labor, education agencies, parents, students, teachers, administrators,\nand community organizations.\n(2) The Kentucky Board of Education shall promulgate administrative regulations that\nset forth the request for proposal process, the criteria for grant awards, the\nresponsibilities of local districts  and consortia seeking matching funds, the level of\nfunding available, and criteria for evaluating the success of the programs.\n(3) The Department of Education shall administer the funds and shall provide technical\nassistance to local districts and consort ia in developing, implementing, and\nevaluating School-to-Careers programs.\n(4) The commissioner of education shall establish a state advisory committee composed\nof business, industry, labor, education, and government with a minimum of fif ty-\none percent (51%) of its membership from the employment sector to advise the\ndepartment in the School -to-Careers program. The members shall serve without\ncompensation but may be reimbursed for necessary travel expenses.\n(5) The grant funds may be used t o enhance on -going efforts such as Tech Prep,\nSchool-to-Work, and High Schools that Work initiatives.","path":["KRS Chapter 158"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=3581","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:06Z","sha256":"4d38aaaff6d7d7846acea22777c6c1bd3e77ea22e1b0585c9b1cad40c739d1a2","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-158.760","next":"us-ky/krs-158.770"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
