{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-158.830","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 158.830","heading":"Legislative findings -- Construction of KRS 158.830 to 158.836.","body":"The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky finds that:\n(1) Asthma is the seventh -most prevalent chronic health condition in the United States\nand is the leading serious chronic illness of children;\n(2) Asthma is the third -ranking cause of hospita lization among children under age\nfifteen (15) and accounts for almost one (1) in six (6) of all pediatric emergency\nroom visits;\n(3) Approximately two hundred fifty thousand (250,000) Kentuckians suffer from\nasthma, including over sixty thousand (60,000) children;\n(4) Nationally more than five thousand four hundred (5,400) individuals die from\nasthma each year;\n(5) Asthma is the number -one cause of school absences attributed to chronic\nconditions;\n(6) Asthma is manageable with treatment and medications;\n(7) Physicians and other health care practitioners instruct children with asthma in the\nproper use of asthma medications; and\n(8) KRS 158.830 to 158.836 shall be construed to provide unobstructed access to\nasthma medications for elementary and secondary school students with asthma.","path":["KRS Chapter 158"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=3608","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:06Z","sha256":"b6cd342cd153f88f13aedbf028a6328358162cf735bed00ec9885c5c55f5db70","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-158.818","next":"us-ky/krs-158.832"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
