{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-158.852","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 158.852","heading":"School food service director or menu planner -- Credentials and","body":"certificates -- Continuing education.\n(1) Each district shall appoint a food service director who is responsible for the\nmanagement and oversight of the food service program in the distri ct, except two\n(2) or more contiguous districts may form one (1) \"school food service area\" and a\nschool food service director shall be jointly selected by the participating school\nsuperintendents to oversee the school food service area.\n(2) (a) Any person  serving as a school food service director or person otherwise\nresponsible for menu planning in each school district on June 20, 2005, shall\nbe credentialed as a \"school food service and nutrition specialist\" or certified\nby a Level 2 certificate issued by  the American School Food Service\nAssociation within three (3) years after June 20, 2005. No school district shall\nbe required to have more than one (1) person with a credential or certificate\nunder this section.\n(b) After June 20, 2005, a person appointed  to serve as school food service\ndirector or the person designated for menu planning who does not hold the\n\"school food service and nutrition specialist\" credential or the Level 2\ncertificate issued by the American School Food Service Association shall\nobtain the appropriate credential within three (3) years of his or her\nappointment or designation. No school district shall be required to have more\nthan one (1) person with a credential or certificate under this section.\n(c) Eight (8) clock hours of the requ ired continuing education for maintaining the\nappropriate credential or certificate under this subsection shall be directly\nrelated to applied nutrition and healthy meal planning and preparation.\n(3) School cafeteria managers shall annually receive at least two (2) hours of continuing\neducation in applied nutrition and healthy meal planning and preparation.","path":["KRS Chapter 158"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=3622","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:06Z","sha256":"9a7f21c99a0a973e416ad336a6c6f53c190e2cbb9727426fa84d8e3c6678e2b5","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-158.850","next":"us-ky/krs-158.854"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
