{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-159.170","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 159.170","heading":"Withdrawals -- Teachers to investigate and report -- Entry of expulsion in","body":"student record -- Collection and dissemination of student records.\n(1) Whenever any child of compulsory school age withdraws from school, the teacher\nof the student sh all ascertain the reason. The fact of the withdrawal and the reason\nfor it shall be immediately transmitted by the teacher to the superintendent of\nschools of the district in which the school is located. If the student has withdrawn\nbecause of change of residence, the next residence shall be ascertained and included\nin the report.\n(2) The Kentucky Department of Education shall ensure that the student information\nsystem facilitates the collection of student data and the transfer of education records\namong schools and local districts.\n(3) Within five (5) days of a student being expelled under KRS 158.150, a school\ndistrict shall enter the expulsion in the student's record within the student\ninformation system.\n(4) A school district shall notify the Kentucky De partment of Education when a new\nstudent enrolls in a school in the district.\n(5) The Kentucky Department of Education, upon notification of a student's enrollment\nin a school, shall forward within ten (10) working days all records regarding the\nstudent collected under this section to the receiving district.","path":["KRS Chapter 159"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57380","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:07Z","sha256":"85614e1565d4b08fd1ecd86b202fe53cf0cb31005e265b44deb71d735421aa7b","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-159.160","next":"us-ky/krs-159.180"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
