{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-15a.064","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 15A.064","heading":"Local juvenile restorative justice advisory committees -- Membership --","body":"Duties -- Reports.\n(1) The Department of Juvenile Justice shall establish in each county, or assign to an\nexisting body the responsibilities of, a local juvenile restorat ive justice advisory\ncommittee. For counties within the same judicial district, the requirements of this\nsubsection may be satisfied through a joint committee.\n(2) The membership of each committee shall include the following:\n(a) The Chief District Judge;\n(b) The county attorney;\n(c) An assistant public advocate;\n(d) A representative from the Department for Community Based Services;\n(e) A representative from the Department of Juvenile Justice;\n(f) A representative from a local law enforcement agency;\n(g) A representative from each local school district;\n(h) Community members reflecting the racial, socioeconomic, and other diversity\nof the county or, in the case of a joint committee, the counties; and\n(i) A representative from a victims advocacy group.\n(3) Each committee shall:\n(a) Establish sustainable programs that employ restorative practices to identify\nthe underlying causes of negative behavior and empower children, families,\nand communities to address  and prevent issues surrounding incidents of\nnegative behavior; and\n(b) Develop and implement local restorative justice programs with an established\norganization to serve children, youth, and families through referrals from the\ncourt, the court-designated worker, the Department of Juvenile Justice, public\nschools, or other social service agencies, or upon request of a child or family.\n(4) Restorative justice programs established pursuant to this section shall not allow\nparticipation by a child accused or ad judicated of an offense which would classify\nhim or her as a violent offender under KRS 439.3401.\n(5) Each committee shall meet at least quarterly, and shall report to the Department of\nJuvenile Justice, Office of Community and Mental Health Services.","path":["KRS Chapter 15A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=55484","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:35Z","sha256":"27dee0b612f705ffb3a6b025740158af20a957b47c6b8157fc1567a46b269369","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-15a.063","next":"us-ky/krs-15a.065"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
