{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-15a.072","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 15A.072","heading":"Transfer of Department of Criminal Justice Training contract employees.","body":"(1) Effective May 1, 2017, contract employees of Eastern Kentucky University who are\nengaged in providing instructional and support services to the mission of the\nDepartment of Criminal Justice Training shall be transferred to the Department of\nCriminal Justi ce Training within the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet along with\nthe funding associated with those employees. The Personnel Cabinet shall assist in\nimplementing the transfer of employees.\n(2) Employees transferred pursuant to subsection (1) of this sect ion shall retain the\nfollowing:\n(a) All salaries and leave time balances accumulated as of the transfer date;\n(b) The date of initial contract employment with the Eastern Kentucky University\nfor purposes of determining leave time accumulation; and\n(c) The date of initial participation in a state-administered retirement system if the\nemployee has participated or is participating in the Kentucky Employees\nRetirement System or the Kentucky Teachers' Retirement System for the\npurpose of calculating retirement benefits. However, nothing in this paragraph\nshall be construed to provide additional service credit for an employee prior to\nthe transfer date other than what has already been credited to the appropriate\nretirement system, and any months of service accrued  while employed by\nEastern Kentucky University shall not count towards classified or unclassified\nservice as defined in KRS 18A.005.\n(3) As of May 1, 2017, employees transferred pursuant to subsection (1) of this section\nshall participate in the Kentucky E mployees Retirement System as nonhazardous\nmembers pursuant to KRS 61.510 to 61.705.\n(4) Employees transferred to the Department of Criminal Justice Training pursuant to\nthis section shall be eligible to participate in the state -sponsored life and health\ninsurance benefit programs administered by the Personnel Cabinet in accordance\nwith KRS Chapter 18A. Employees shall be eligible for coverage under the life and\nhealth insurance programs effective May 1, 2017, and shall not be subject to any\nwaiting period that may be otherwise applicable to participation in these programs.","path":["KRS Chapter 15A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=45556","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:35Z","sha256":"9e1298e2a6f2bfff33c44d749ed5efdd8b98f9a8bdc425b552f01ac10e1bbf36","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-15a.070","next":"us-ky/krs-15a.075"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
