{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-15a.344","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 15A.344","heading":"County tobacco addiction and alcohol and substance abuse advisory and","body":"coordination boards -- Role of KY -ASAP -- Local long -term community\nstrategy.\n(1) KY-ASAP shall establish in each county a local tobacco addiction and alcohol and\nsubstance abuse ad visory and coordination board to assist in planning, overseeing,\nand coordinating the implementation of local programs related to smoking cessation\nand prevention and alcohol and substance abuse prevention, cessation, and\ntreatment, although a single board  may be established for multiple counties to\nensure a comprehensive range of services. The board shall assist with the\ncoordination of programs provided by public and private entities. If the existing\nprograms of private service providers are of high quali ty, KY -ASAP shall\nconcentrate on providing missing elements and support for those providers. The\nCabinet for Health and Family Services shall support the communities' efforts.\n(2) KY-ASAP shall consult with community leaders to solicit the names of residen ts\nfrom the community to serve on each advisory and coordination board. KY -ASAP\nshall request from each board the submission of reasonable reports on the\neffectiveness, efficiency, and efforts of each local program, including\nrecommendations for increased or decreased funding, and KY -ASAP shall supply\ninformation as necessary to the advisory and coordination board to enable it to carry\nout its functions.\n(3) KY-ASAP shall provide incentives to encourage multicounty advisory and\ncoordination board requests a nd shall establish a single board to represent all\ncounties making the request. Priority in establishing a board shall be given to\nexisting regional prevention centers or coalitions, community organizations, or local\nKentucky Incentives for Prevention (KIP ) project coalitions. Membership shall\nconsist of residents from each of the counties.\n(4) Each advisory and coordination board shall develop a long -term community\nstrategy that is designed to reduce the incidence of youth and young adult smoking\nand tobac co addiction, promote resistance to smoking, reduce the incidence of\nsubstance abuse, and promote effective treatment of substance abuse. All county\nresources, both private and public, for -profit and nonprofit, shall be considered in\ndeveloping this strategy.\n(a) Employers, local leaders, schools, family resource and youth services centers,\nhealth care providers and institutions, economic developers, and other relevant\nlocal and regional entities shall be consulted in the development of the\nstrategy.\n(b) An assessment of needs and available services shall be included in the\nstrategy.","path":["KRS Chapter 15A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=1072","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:36Z","sha256":"741de3590194ab3e2cdce86e392a6acd5345afe6f9ccad1c220a99a2e1160711","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-15a.342","next":"us-ky/krs-15a.350"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
