{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-16.080","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 16.080","heading":"Administrative regulations governing officers and department -- Bonds of","body":"employees -- Oaths -- Acquisition of real estate -- Reduction of sick leave\nbalances.\n(1) The commissioner shall promulgate administrative regulations for the enlistment,\ntraining, code of ethics, discipline, and conduct of officers of the department and\nindividuals employed as a Trooper R Class or CVE R Class, and the commissioner\nmay promulgate administrative regulations for the governing and operation of the\ndepartment as appear to him or her reasonably necessary to carry out the provisions\nof KRS 16.010 to 16.170.\n(2) The commissioner may require any officer, individual employed as a Trooper R\nClass or CVE R Class, or civilian who receives or disburses public funds in t he\ncourse of his or her duties to file a bond, conditioned that he or she will honestly,\ncorrectly, and according to law, receive, disburse, and account for all public moneys\ncoming into his or her hands. The commissioner, each officer, and each individual\nemployed as a Trooper R Class or CVE R Class, shall execute a bond to the\nCommonwealth of Kentucky in the sum of not less than two thousand dollars\n($2,000), conditioned upon the faithful discharge of his or her duties. The premium\non the bonds shall be paid by the department. The commissioner, each officer of the\ndepartment, and each individual employed as a Trooper R Class or CVE R Class\nshall, before entering upon the discharge of their official duties, take the\nconstitutional oath of office.\n(3) Subject to the provisions of KRS 56.440 to 56.550, the commissioner, with the\napproval of the Governor and the secretary of the Finance and Administration\nCabinet, may acquire real estate or interests therein, by purchase, lease, or\notherwise, necessary for the purposes of the department, and, with like approval,\nprovide for the acquisition or construction of necessary buildings and other\npermanent structures and facilities. Title to any real estate acquired shall be taken in\nthe name of the Commonwealth.\n(4) Subject to the provisions of KRS 16.583 and 16.584, the commissioner shall direct\nthe department to reduce sick leave balances of officers subject to the provisions of\nKRS 16.583 and 16.584 by the amount of sick leave credited to the hybrid cash\nbalance plan for State Police Retirement System members under KRS 16.583 and\n16.584.","path":["KRS Chapter 16"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=53367","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:36Z","sha256":"e9f7b819b5ba1114b82b099ecefade28efc43b0491bc80a2bd207aa073f3bf57","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-16.075","next":"us-ky/krs-16.090"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
