{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-16.189","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 16.189","heading":"Powers and duties of officers in positions created under KRS 16.187.","body":"The powers and duties of officers in the positions established by KRS 16.187 shall be as\nfollows:\n(1) Commercial vehicle enforcement officers and commercial vehicle enforcement\nofficers R class shall enforce:\n(a) Commercial vehicle licensure, operator, traffic, and criminal violations;\n(b) Motor vehicle operator, traffic, and criminal law violations on a highway; and\n(c) All the laws and administrative regulations of the Commonwealth at the\ndirection of the commissioner;\n(2) Arson investigator officers shall enforce:\n(a) All criminal laws pertaining to arson; and\n(b) All the laws and administrative regulations of the Commonwealth at the\ndirection of the commissioner;\n(3) Hazardous devices investigator officers shall enforce:\n(a) All criminal laws pertaining to hazardous devices; and\n(b) All the laws and administrative regulations of the Commonwealth at the\ndirection of the commissioner;\n(4) Facilities security officers shall have the jurisdiction and duties established pursuant\nto KRS 61.900 to 61.930; and\n(5) Legislative security specialists shall:\n(a) Provide protection and security for the personnel, property, and facilities of\nthe General Assembly and the Legislative Research Commission and make\narrests for unlawful activity; and\n(b) Enforce all the laws and all of the administrative regulations promulgated as\nrequired and in accordance with KRS Chapter 13A at the direction of the\ncommissioner.","path":["KRS Chapter 16"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=44924","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:36Z","sha256":"5d4ac9290d8be06ab3678b30f0cfcf8a5a20d31a0257d8eddacb4f23999d028a","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-16.188","next":"us-ky/krs-16.190"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
