{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-160.725","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 160.725","heading":"Directory information on student -- Student's right to restrict release --","body":"Official recruiters' access to public high school campuses and student directory\ninformation.\n(1) An educational institution may publish and release to the general public direc tory\ninformation relating to a student. An educational institution shall give public notice\nof the categories of directory information that it has designated as directory\ninformation with respect to each student in attendance and shall allow a reasonable\ntime after the notice has been given for a parent or eligible student to inform the\ninstitution that any or all of the information designated should not be released\nwithout prior consent.\n(2) (a) If an educational institution provides access to its campus o r its student\ndirectory information to persons or groups which make students aware of\noccupational or educational options, the board shall provide access on the\nsame basis to official recruiting representatives of:\n1. The Armed Forces of the United States;\n2. The Kentucky Air National Guard;\n3. The Kentucky Army National Guard; and\n4. The service academies of the Armed Forces of the United States.\n(b) Local secondary schools shall provide the student directory information to\nofficial recruiting representatives by September 30 of each year.\n(c) Student directory information given to official recruiting representatives may\nbe used for the purpose of informing students of educational and career\nopportunities available in the Armed Forces of the United States, t he\nKentucky Air National Guard, the Kentucky Army National Guard and the\nservice academies of the Armed Forces of the United States.","path":["KRS Chapter 160"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=3819","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:09Z","sha256":"a37274b353661f14fc18db8558e810adb453b81de35167ff13a40d014de703c2","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-160.720","next":"us-ky/krs-160.730"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
