{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-161.020","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 161.020","heading":"Certificates required of school employees -- Filing requirements -- Validity","body":"and terms for renewal.\n(1) (a) No person shall be eligible to hold the position of superintendent, principal,\nteacher, supervisor, director of pupil personnel, or other public school position\nfor which certificates may be issued, or receive salary for services rendered in\nthe position, unless he or she holds a certificate of legal qualifications for the\nposition, issued by the Education Professional Standards Board.\n(b) No person seeking initial employment as a school finance officer on or after\nJuly 1, 2015, shall be eligible to hold the position of school finance officer\nunless the person holds a certificate of legal qualification for the position,\nissued by the Kentucky Department of Education.\n(2) No person shall enter upon the duties of a position requiring certification\nqualifications until his or her certificate has been filed or credentials registered with\nthe local district employer.\n(3) The validity and terms for the r enewal of any certificate shall be determined by the\nlaws and regulations in effect at the time the certificate was issued.","path":["KRS Chapter 161"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=43530","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:09Z","sha256":"ca6f42fdd46f2040995f3a978bd5c665333f1c250fc5f3e63f9864e4e8ab2588","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-161.017","next":"us-ky/krs-161.025"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
