{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-161.095","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 161.095","heading":"Continuing education for teachers -- Extension for military service --","body":"Administrative regulations.\n(1) The Education Professional Standards Board, with the advice of the Kentucky\nBoard of Education, shall:\n(a) Promulgate administrative regulations to establish procedures for a teacher to\nmaintain his or her certificate by successfully completing meaningful\ncontinuing education;\n(b) Develop standards for continuing education related to maintaining a\ncertificate, including university courses, an advanced degree, or a combination\nof field -based experience, individual research, and approved professional\ndevelopment; and\n(c) Establish a system of quality assurance related to continuing education\nactivities and certification requirements.\n(2) (a) The Education Professional Standards Board shall extend the validity period\nof a certificate of a member of the Armed Forces of the United States of\nAmerica by one (1) year for each year the member is determined by the board\nto have been prohibited by military service or training from pursuing an\nadvanced degree or completing professional development required to maintain\ncertification; and\n(b) The Education Professional Standards Board shall promulgate administrative\nregulations to establish an application proce ss and develop guidelines for the\nprocess by which education or professional development is considered to have\nbeen prohibited by military service.","path":["KRS Chapter 161"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=48023","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:09Z","sha256":"68e87f85fb1baf3e1e700a5d1754df0bed9c324fcd908e2051e29be5dcda91e9","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-161.090","next":"us-ky/krs-161.100"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
