{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-161.131","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 161.131","heading":"Legislative findings and goals on national board certification.","body":"(1) The General Assembly hereby finds that:\n(a) Student achievement is directly related to the competency levels of the\nteachers and the teachers' ability to nurture student learning;\n(b) All students are entitled to have teachers who know the subjects they te ach\nand who demonstrate skill for managing and monitoring student learning;\n(c) Teachers who meet entry -level standards need support and opportunities to\ndevelop higher-level skills throughout their teaching careers;\n(d) Certification through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards\nis based on high and rigorous standards and provides a process of\ndevelopment and assessment of teachers' knowledge, skills and abilities\nembedded in classroom practices in the certificate field; and\n(e) Teachers w ho successfully meet the certification requirements through the\nNational Board for Professional Teaching Standards can help strengthen the\nteaching profession within their schools and school districts by advising,\nassisting, and mentoring new teachers; by serving as role models and master\nteachers to student teachers; and by assisting other experienced teachers who\nseek national board certification.\n(2) The General Assembly establishes, on behalf of the public school teachers and\nstudents in the Commonwealt h, a goal that by the year 2020 there will be at least\none (1) national board certified teacher in every public school in Kentucky.","path":["KRS Chapter 161"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=3862","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:10Z","sha256":"b08887b1c8d0bde9daea6f41f1c757a4f30a87cfd2a7f00e17fc03a1efee7f2a","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-161.130","next":"us-ky/krs-161.132"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
