{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-161.133","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 161.133","heading":"Teachers' national certification incentive trust fund -- Purposes --","body":"Appropriations.\n(1) There is hereby established a \"Teachers' National Certification Incentive Trust\nFund\" in the State Treasury for the purposes of:\n(a) Funding stipends for teache rs to prepare for certification by the National\nBoard for Professional Teaching Standards;\n(b) Reimbursing a portion of the certification fee to each teacher who is awarded\nnational board certification;\n(c) Reimbursing local boards of education or the Depa rtment of Education for\npersons who serve as substitute teachers for national board certification\ncandidates; and\n(d) Funding stipends for national board certified teachers who serve as mentors to\nother teachers within the school district or the Kentucky Tech system.\n(2) Appropriations by the General Assembly in each biennial budget for the purpose of\nsupporting national board certification shall be credited to the fund and invested\nuntil needed. All money credited to the fund, including interest earned on money in\nthe fund, shall be retained in the fund for reinvestment and used for the purposes of\nthis section. Funds appropriated to the fund shall not lapse at the end of a fiscal year\nor a biennium.\n(3) The Education Professional Standards Board shall prom ulgate administrative\nregulations that establish the procedures for the administration of the funds as\ndescribed in this section and the requirements for participating teachers, local\nboards of education, and the Department of Education. The board shall allocate only\nthose funds to teachers, school districts, or the department for the purposes in this\nsection for which other sources of funds are not being received. The board may\nlimit the number of participants accepted in any given enrollment or applicatio n\nperiod due to the lack of available funds.\n(4) Money in the fund shall be distributed to local boards of education, the Department\nof Education, and teachers by the Education Professional Standards Board in\ncompliance with the administrative regulations promulgated by the board.","path":["KRS Chapter 161"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=42224","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:10Z","sha256":"078b7042170a4431b6726b89e15ea84bcdcb904b1d6c83e29a33bdc289e6f53b","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-161.132","next":"us-ky/krs-161.134"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
