{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-161.608","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 161.608","heading":"Calculation of benefits of member who has an account with another state","body":"system.\nThe provisions of KRS 61.680 are hereby recognized and shall be followed in calculating\nbenefits of any member of the Teachers' Retirement System who also has an account with\nthe Kentucky Employees Retirement System, County Employees Retirement System, or\nState Police Retirement System. The benefits shall be calculated using a membership date\nas follows:\n(1) Teachers' Retirement System shall use the other state -administered retirement\nsystems' membership entry date to establish eligibility for and participation in\nbenefits if it is the earlier membership entry date between the systems, and this date\nshall not be subsequently changed once entered in the member's record; and\n(2) For individuals who begin participation in the Teacher's Retirement System on or\nafter July 1, 2026, service subsequently reinstated or established in another system\nfor an earlier period or date shall not change the individual's continued part icipation\nin the Teachers' Retirement System account type in which they participated prior to\nthe reinstatement.","path":["KRS Chapter 161"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57280","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:11Z","sha256":"6c9cee226e27555a081e6e5c6ffa87f1b528a77203ccb8d763fa46f25d17fdc1","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-161.607","next":"us-ky/krs-161.610"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
