{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-164.002","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 164.002","heading":"Definitions for chapter.","body":"As used in KRS Chapter 164, unless the context requires otherwise:\n(1) \"Advanced placement\" or \"AP\" means a college -level course that incorporates all\ntopics and instructional strategies specified by the College Board on its standard\nsyllabus for a given subject area and is licensed by the College Board;\n(2) \"Cambridge Advanced International\" means the Cambridge Advanced International\nCertificate of Education Diploma program, an international pre -university\ncurriculum and examination system offered by Cambr idge International\nExaminations at the University of Cambridge;\n(3) \"College Board Advanced Placement examination\" means the advanced placement\ntest administered by the College Entrance Examination Board;\n(4) \"College Board\" means the College Entrance Exam ination Board, a national\nnonprofit association that provides college admission guidance and advanced\nplacement examinations;\n(5) \"Dual credit\" means a college -level course of study developed in accordance with\nKRS 164.098 in which a high school student re ceives credit from both the high\nschool and postsecondary institution in which the student is enrolled upon\ncompletion of a single class or designated program of study, including participating\nin the Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky or  the Craft\nAcademy for Excellence in Science and Mathematics;\n(6) \"Dual enrollment\" means a college -level course of study developed in accordance\nwith KRS 164.098 in which a student is enrolled in a high school and postsecondary\ninstitution simultaneously,  including participating in the Gatton Academy of\nMathematics and Science in Kentucky or the Craft Academy for Excellence in\nScience and Mathematics; and\n(7) \"International Baccalaureate\" or \"IB\" means the International Baccalaureate\nOrganization's Diploma  Programme, a comprehensive two (2) year program\ndesigned for highly motivated students.","path":["KRS Chapter 164"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=44066","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:13Z","sha256":"ad7d4df43b4b88b216eab47a169f1887c67a94d3b31c86beb8491252bfa81ef3","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-164.001","next":"us-ky/krs-164.003"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
