{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-164.0206","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 164.0206","heading":"Public postsecondary education institution's program in speech -language","body":"pathology and teacher education.\nA public postsecondary education institution with a degree program in speech -language\npathology and a teacher education program, under the direct ion of the Council on\nPostsecondary Education, and in consultation with the Education Professional Standards\nBoard and the Kentucky Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, shall:\n(1) Align the programs of studies for speech -language pathology and teacher education\nto permit a student to successfully prepare for licensure as a speech -language\npathology assistant and certification as a bachelor's level teacher of exceptional\nchildren/communication disorders;\n(2) Increase the number of qualified stud ents accepted into programs leading to\nlicensure as a speech -language pathologist or speech -language pathology assistant\nand certification as a teacher of exceptional children/communication disorders,\nsubject to:\n(a) Requirements for program certification by national certifying bodies,\nincluding, but not limited to, student to faculty ratios;\n(b) The strategic plans of the Council on Postsecondary Education and the\npostsecondary education institution; and\n(c) The budgetary considerations of the postsecondary education institution.\n(3) Provide expanded opportunities for speech -language pathology assistants working\nin public schools to pursue licensure as a speech -language pathologist and\ncertification as a teacher of exceptional children/communication disorde rs, which\nmay include:\n(a) Expanded opportunities for admission to on-campus programs;\n(b) The development and expansion of distance learning opportunities in\ncollaboration with the Kentucky Commonwealth Virtual University; and\n(c) Admissions requirements that take into account successful professional\nexperience as a speech -language pathology assistant in lieu of other\nadmissions requirements.","path":["KRS Chapter 164"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=4171","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:13Z","sha256":"bf590bf3bf2646236ec0a6e8f436135d84a81b56f0e39837e48b2d11ed0cd9a8","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-164.0205","next":"us-ky/krs-164.0207"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
