{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-164.043","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 164.043","heading":"Cancer research institutions matching fund.","body":"(1) There is hereby created in the State Treasury a cancer research matching fund\ndesignated as the \"cancer research institutions matching fund.\" The fund shall be\nadministered by the Council for Postsecondary Education. For tax periods\nbeginning on or after June 1, 2005, the one-cent ($0.01) surtax collected under KRS\n138.140(1)(c) shall be deposited in the fund and shall be made available for\nmatching purposes to the following universities for cancer research:\n(a) One-half (1/2) of the moneys deposited in the  fund shall be made available to\nthe University of Kentucky; and\n(b) One-half (1/2) of the moneys deposited in the fund shall be made available to\nthe University of Louisville.\n(2) All interest earned on moneys in the fund shall be credited to the fund.\n(3) Any moneys remaining in the fund at the end of the fiscal year shall lapse to the\ngeneral fund.\n(4) To receive the funds, the universities shall provide dollar-for-dollar matching funds.\nThe matching funds shall come from external sources to be eligible for the state\nmatch. External source contributions are those that originate outside the university\nand its affiliated corporations. The matching funds shall be newly generated to be\neligible for state match. Newly generated contributions are those received  by the\nuniversity after April 1, 2005.\n(5) Moneys transferred to the fund pursuant to subsection (1) of this section are hereby\nappropriated for purposes set forth in this section.\n(6) The following funds are not eligible for state match:\n(a) Funds received from federal, state, and local government sources; and\n(b) General fund and student-derived revenues.","path":["KRS Chapter 164"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=47342","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:14Z","sha256":"36d7bb18abe52bbee97eea0857a1c92dc73de6fec7c962c4b3541535fac72df9","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-164.041","next":"us-ky/krs-164.050"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
