{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-164.2803","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 164.2803","heading":"Nuclear Energy Development Grant Program -- Grant administration","body":"subcommittee duties.\n(1) The Kentucky Nuclear Energy Development Authority established in KRS\n164.2802 shall create and implement the Nuclear Energy Development Grant\nProgram for the advancement and location of nuclear fission and fusion energy -\nrelated projects to support the entire nuclear energy ecosystem in the\nCommonwealth, including utility and private sector economic development\nactivities. The nuclear energy ecosystem includes but is not limited to:\n(a) The nuclear fuel cycle, which includes fuel conversion, enrichment, and\nfabrication, as well as potential future spent fuel recycling and reprocessing;\n(b) Nuclear fission or fusion reactor design and component manufacturing;\n(c) Component supply chain manufacturing and distribution;\n(d) Nuclear fission or fusion facility siting and development;\n(e) Radioisotope production;\n(f) Facility operation and maintenance;\n(g) Decommissioning waste storage, transport, and management; and\n(h) End uses of nuclear energy and co-products.\n(2) The membership of the Kentucky Nuclear Energy Development Authority shall\nselect five (5) of its voting members to serve on the nuclear energy development\ngrant administration subcommittee. A majori ty of the members of the grant\nadministration subcommittee shall constitute a quorum for the purposes of doing\nbusiness. The subcommittee shall:\n(a) Create grant applications;\n(b) Establish grant applicant eligibility requirements;\n(c) Establish objective scoring criteria to evaluate grant applications, including\nbut not limited to:\n1. The likelihood that the proposed project funded by the grant will\nprecipitate further investment in the nuclear energy ecosystem;\n2. The economic impact of the grant funding on the community and region\nwhere the proposed project will be located;\n3. The readiness of the community where the proposed project will be\nlocated to host nuclear -related investm ents, including whether the\ncommunity has been awarded a nuclear -ready community designation\nunder KRS 164.2804; and\n4. The amount of additional investment that would be made in the\nproposed project by the grant applicant and other sources; and\n(d) Make determinations on grant eligibility and funding and make grant awards\nbased on those determinations, not to exceed two million dollars ($2,000,000)\nper individual grant.","path":["KRS Chapter 164"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57403","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:14Z","sha256":"f0aa21b5a301c1823e5b748839f71d1c04021c1b067b1b82edd2888209466766","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-164.2802","next":"us-ky/krs-164.2804"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
