{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-164.2804","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 164.2804","heading":"Nuclear-ready community designation -- Criteria -- Application process --","body":"Award by the authority.\n(1) The Kentucky Nuclear Energy Development Authority, with the approval of its\nadvisory board, shall develop and adopt criteria for awarding a  nuclear-ready\ncommunity designation to demonstrate a community's readiness to welcome nuclear\nenergy-related development. The criteria to attain the designation shall include but\nnot be limited to:\n(a) The holding of local public educational meetings to e ducate the community\non advanced nuclear energy technologies, the nuclear ecosystem, and the role\nthat nuclear energy-related development could play in the community;\n(b) The availability of sites within the community that have been recognized by\nthe Cabinet for Economic Development as being suitable for nuclear energy -\nrelated projects; and\n(c) The adoption of resolutions from the county and all cities in the county or a\nsuccessful county ballot initiative declaring the community's readiness for\nnuclear energy-related projects to be developed and sited there.\n(2) Communities may voluntarily apply to the Kentucky Nuclear Energy Development\nAuthority for a nuclear-ready community designation in the form and manner as the\nauthority may require, and the authority shall evaluate the application and award the\ndesignation based on the criteria established under subsection (1) of this section.","path":["KRS Chapter 164"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=55432","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:14Z","sha256":"bc8c64e9ce42de642e2e9fb04e0c1d0d44098654355cbee691811d2cb8a96110","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-164.2803","next":"us-ky/krs-164.2805"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
