The curricula shall be for a course of instruction that is three (3) semester hours, or\nthe equivalent, in American government or American  history that provides a\ncomprehensive overview of the major events and turning points of American history and\ngovernment and, at a minimum, includes:\n(1) An understanding of the United States Constitution in its entirety;\n(2) An understanding of the Declaration of Independence in its entirety;\n(3) An understanding of a minimum of five (5) essays from the Federalist Papers in\ntheir entirety as selected by the course instructor;\n(4) An understanding of the Emancipation Proclamation in its entirety;\n(5) An understanding of the Gettysburg Address in its entirety; and\n(6) Other documents foundational to the American Civil Rights movement.","path":["KRS Chapter 164"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57900","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:14Z","sha256":"7b5609c63135fe8f1a37ee8624da79c75cee531301bddd22dbbc549fba70ea8e","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-164.2808","next":"us-ky/krs-164.281"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
