{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-164.2844","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 164.2844","heading":"Tuition rates for nonresident veterans, members of Reserve components,","body":"and active members of the Kentucky National Guard at Kentucky's public\nuniversities -- In-state residency status of accepted or enrolled Armed Forces\nmember, spouse, or dependent unaffected by transfer on military orders.\n(1) Notwithstanding KRS 164.020(8), the governing board of a Kentucky public\nuniversity may adopt a tuition policy whereby any veteran of the Armed Forces of\nthe United States or National Guard who is eligi ble for Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits or\nany member of a Reserve component who enrolls as a student in the university as a\nnon-Kentucky resident is charged no more than the maximum tuition\nreimbursement provided under the Post -9/11 GI Bill to public universit ies for\neligible Kentucky residents.\n(2) Notwithstanding KRS 164.020(8), beginning with the 2017 -2018 academic year, an\nactive member of the Kentucky National Guard who enrolls as a student in a\nKentucky public university as a non -Kentucky resident shall b e considered a\nKentucky resident for tuition purposes.\n(3) A member of the United States Armed Forces, or a spouse or dependent of a\nmember, who is determined to be a Kentucky resident at the time of acceptance for\nadmission by a public postsecondary insti tution under the guidelines established by\nthe council shall not lose Kentucky residency status if the member is transferred on\nmilitary orders prior to the member, spouse, or dependent enrolling in the institution\nfor the academic term for which the membe r, spouse, or dependent was accepted or\nwhile the student is enrolled.
