{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-164.2846","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 164.2846","heading":"Academic career pathways and integrated academic bridge programs for","body":"military healthcare personnel -- Requirements -- Report.\n(1) As used in this section:\n(a) \"Institution\" means any college or university that is a part of the\npostsecondary education system as defined in KRS 164.001 or a private\naccredited college or university;\n(b) \"Military healthcare personnel\" means an individual who has received formal\ntraining and practical experience in healthcare disciplines during his or her\nmilitary service, including providing emergency medical care, preventive\nhealthcare, and specialized medical services; and\n(c) \"Professional licensure board\" has the same meaning as in KRS 211.332.\n(2) (a) Any institution may develop academic career pathways and i ntegrated\nacademic bridge programs for military healthcare personnel that are designed\nto enable current and former military healthcare personnel to achieve reduced\ntime-to-credential outcomes. These pathways and integrated academic bridge\nprograms shall i ntegrate military academic and experiential learning to\naccelerate the transition from military to civilian healthcare credentialing\nbased on developed military -to-civilian occupational crosswalks for, at a\nminimum, the following occupations:\n1. Infantryman;\n2. Hospital corpsman;\n3. Biomedical equipment specialist;\n4. Orthopedic specialist;\n5. Practical nursing specialist;\n6. Operating room specialist;\n7. Dental specialist;\n8. Physical therapy specialist;\n9. Patient administration specialist;\n10. Optical laboratory specialist;\n11. Medical logistics specialist;\n12. Medical laboratory specialist;\n13. Occupational therapist specialist;\n14. Nutrition care specialist;\n15. Cardiovascular specialist;\n16. Radiology specialist;\n17. Pharmacy specialist;\n18. Veterinarian food inspection specialist;\n19. Preventive medicine specialist;\n20. Animal care specialist;\n21. Ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist;\n22. Respiratory specialist;\n23. Combat medic specialist;\n24. Behavioral health specialist;\n25. Eye specialist;\n26. Independent duty medical technician; and\n27. Aerospace medical technician.\n(b) Any military healthcare personnel academic career pathways and integrated\nacademic bridge programs shall be fully compatible with the Department of\nDefense SkillBridge Program.\n(c) Any participating institution shall review military healthcare personnel related\nhealthcare programs in relationship to realistic earning potential and\nemployability of the institution graduates and submit  a written report to the\nLegislative Research Commission for referral to the Interim Joint Committee\non Veterans, Military Affairs, and Public Protection no later than September 1\nof each year. The report shall include:\n1. The minimum number of months or years required to complete the\nhealthcare program and the average number of months or years military\nhealthcare personnel graduates of each healthcare program were\nenrolled;\n2. The graduation rate of each healthcare program and the military\nhealthcare personnel graduation rate;\n3. The employment rate of military healthcare personnel graduates of each\nhealthcare program within twelve (12) months of graduation; and\n4. A summary of all new actions taken by the institution during  the\nreporting year to increase military healthcare personnel participation and\nto reduce transitional barriers to healthcare professionals.\n(3) Any participating institution, in collaboration with the United States Department of\nLabor, Kentucky veterans' organizations, the Kentucky Department of Veterans'\nAffairs, the Kentucky Department of Military Affairs, and any other public or\nprivate entities, including state -based entities transitioning military personnel to\nKentucky-based employment, shall use healthcare and military recruiters, as well as\nother dedicated resources, to advocate, facilitate, and promote the recruitment and\nenrollment of military healthcare personnel into military healthcare academic and\ncareer pathways.\n(4) Each professional licensure board shall collaborate with participating institutions to\nintegrate the academic career pathways and integrated academic bridge programs\nfor military healthcare personnel into their licensure requirements.","path":["KRS Chapter 164"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=56155","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:15Z","sha256":"b16b4c7229357777696b9ed196e8a00599e4d9fafb08607248c58609fe26bc1e","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-164.2845","next":"us-ky/krs-164.2847"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
