{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-164.2899","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 164.2899","heading":"Council on Postsecondary Education to develop and publish annual","body":"survey to assess intellectual freedom and viewpoint diversity -- Institutions to\nadminister surveys, securely store responses, and submit annual report to\ncouncil -- Sunset.\n(1) No later than October 1, 2025, the council shall develop and publish an annual\nsurvey to assess intellectual freedom and viewpoint diversity using statistically\nvalid survey techniques to evaluate the extent to which the students, faculty, and\nstaff of an institution:\n(a) Are exposed to a variety of ideological and political perspectives, including\ncompeting ideas and perspectives; and\n(b) Feel at liberty to express their ideological and political viewpoints and beliefs\non campus and in the classroom.\n(2) By November 1 of each year, each institution shall administer the survey produced\nunder subsection (1) of this section to all students, faculty, and staff of the\ninstitution. The communication distributing the survey shall be clearly identified\nand shall not be combined with any other communication.\n(3) The institution shall provide students, faculty, and staff at least thirty (30) days\nfrom the date the survey is initially distributed to respond to the survey. The\ninstitution shall provide a reminder to students, faculty, and staff to complete the\nsurvey at least three (3) business days prior to the deadline to submit a response.\nThe reminder shall be clearly identified and shall not be combined with any other\ncommunication.\n(4) Each institution shall col lect and store responses to the survey anonymously and\nsecurely.\n(5) Each institution shall compile all responses to its survey into an annual report on\nintellectual freedom and viewpoint diversity to be submitted to the council no later\nthan January 1 of  each year. The council shall publish the annual report submitted\nby each institution to a prominent, publicly accessible location on the council's\nwebsite no later than January 7 of each year.\n(6) This section shall expire on and have no force or effect a fter June 30, 2031, unless\nextended by an act of the General Assembly.","path":["KRS Chapter 164"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=56410","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:15Z","sha256":"9343f8cecef0cc2ef23b17d24a1359785bc1565dce31ab2ab33e75cd0ab3c250","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-164.2898","next":"us-ky/krs-164.290"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
