{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-164.298","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 164.298","heading":"Advanced practice doctoral program in nursing -- Degree -- Portrayal of","body":"credentials -- Degree distinguished from license as licensed certified\nprofessional midwife under KRS 314.400 to 314.414.\n(1) The governing board as defined in KRS 164.00 1 of each eligible postsecondary\neducation institution and college as defined in KRS 164.945 that offers an advanced\npractice doctoral degree in nursing shall be accredited by a national nursing\naccrediting body that includes but is not limited to the Accr editation Commission\nfor Education in Nursing, the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing\nEducation Accreditation, the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia\nEducational Programs, the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or\nthe Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and with minimal education and\nlicensure standards for admission to and graduation from an advanced practice\ndoctoral program in nursing.\n(2) Each university offering an advanced nursing practice doctoral progr am shall refer\nto the degree as the \"doctor of nursing practice,\" with the degree being abbreviated\nas \"DNP.\" Any advertisement about the advanced nursing practice doctoral program\nshall not refer to graduates using the term \"doctor.\" Graduates of the prog ram shall\naccurately portray their academic credentials as well as their registered nurse and\nadvanced practice registered nurse credentials, if applicable, subject to sanction\nunder KRS 311.375(4).\n(3) A licensed certified professional midwife as defined in KRS 314.400 shall not have\nthe same meaning as an advanced practice registered nurse with a designation by the\nBoard of Nursing as a certified nurse-midwife.","path":["KRS Chapter 164"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=48881","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:15Z","sha256":"6d20af153de32a0d1311cf3189bf61074d7a22fa54159f5f9096833ec7b7b2f2","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-164.297","next":"us-ky/krs-164.300"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
