{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-164.635","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 164.635","heading":"Extension board -- Membership, appointment, term, vacancy, removal of","body":"member.\n(1) Appointment of the six (6) members, other than the county judge/executive, to the\nextension board shall be made by the county judge/executive of the county in which\nthe extension district is located. These appointments shall be made, with the\napproval of the fiscal court, from nominations submitted by the extension council in\nthe county in which said district is located. Said council, to be eligible to submit\nnominations, shall be organized and functioning in accordance with procedures\napproved by the director of extension.\n(2) On or before November 1 of each year the extension council shall submit to the\ncounty judge/executive a list of two (2) nominees for each member t o be appointed\nto the extension board. On or before December 1 of each year the county\njudge/executive shall from this list appoint the required board members. If for any\nreason the county judge/executive fails to appoint the required members by\nDecember 1 5 of the year in question, they may be appointed by the director of\nextension. On the first board two (2) members shall be appointed for terms of three\n(3) years, two (2) for terms of two (2) years and two (2) for terms of one (1) year.\nThereafter, all app ointments shall be for terms of three (3) years and shall become\neffective on the first of January following appointment. Each member shall serve\nuntil his successor is appointed and qualified. Appointment of members to fill\nvacancies shall be in the same manner as those for other members. Board members\nmay be appointed and the first board organized immediately after June 14, 1962. In\nthis case the period served in 1962 shall be in addition to the regular terms of the\nmembers which start on January 1, 1963.  Each board member shall, by virtue of his\nmembership on the board, become a member of the extension council.
