{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-164.744","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 164.744","heading":"Purpose of authority.","body":"The purpose of the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority shall be to improve\nthe higher education opportunities of persons who are attending or planning to attend\neligible institutions. Such purpose is hereby declared to be a public purpose for wh ich\npublic money may be spent. Pursuant to rules and regulations which may be adopted by\nthe board which are not inconsistent with the federal act, the authority may:\n(1) Insure loans to students, but such insurance shall be provided only if such loans\nmeet the criteria of the federal act and are the subject of agreements with the\nsecretary, pursuant to the federal act and where the subject eligible lender has\nentered into an appropriate contract with the authority; and\n(2) Provide from funds available to i t loans, grants, scholarships, and work -study\nawards to eligible students who are residents of Kentucky to enable such persons to\npursue an eligible program of study at a participating institution located in the\nCommonwealth, and, if required by the federa l act, to such persons attending such\nnonprofit institutions as may be approved by the board.","path":["KRS Chapter 164"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=4415","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:17Z","sha256":"8dec3b5b888eeba267ba37651cf9377fefc7f5022970e623d21673c779812bc8","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-164.742","next":"us-ky/krs-164.746"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
