{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-164.800","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 164.800","heading":"Commonwealth Virtual University -- Distance Learning Advisory","body":"Committee -- Role of council -- Institutions involved in program.\n(1) The Commonwealth Virtual University shall be the academic programs made\navailable to the citizens of the Commonwealth t hrough the use of modern methods\nof communications and information dissemination as determined by the Council on\nPostsecondary Education after consideration of the recommendations of the\nDistance Learning Advisory Committee and the needs expressed by the r egional\nadvisory groups.\n(2) The council shall establish a Distance Learning Advisory Committee to advise the\ncouncil on matters relating to the Commonwealth Virtual University. The members\nof the advisory committee shall include the presidents of each of the nine (9) state\npostsecondary education institutions, the executive director of the Kentucky\nEducational Television Network, a representative of the Association of Independent\nKentucky Colleges and Universities, and other representatives as the council deems\nappropriate. The committee shall elect its chair and other officers as it deems\nnecessary.\n(3) The council, after receiving the recommendations of the Distance Learning\nAdvisory Committee, shall establish policies to control and promote the use of\ndistance learning systems to be used by the Commonwealth Virtual University to\nincrease the availability of all postsecondary education programs throughout the\nstate in the most efficient manner. The comprehensive universities shall be the\nprimary developers and deliverers of baccalaureate and master's degree programs to\nbe delivered by the Commonwealth Virtual University; however, this does not\npreclude the University of Kentucky, the University of Louisville, or independent\ncolleges from offering baccalaure ate and master's degree programs or other course\nofferings, and community colleges and technical institutions from offering associate\nand technical degree programs or other courses through the Commonwealth Virtual\nUniversity.\n(4) The council shall determin e the allocation of tuition, course offerings, source of\ncourses, technology to be used, and other matters relating to the use of distance\nlearning to promote education through the Commonwealth Virtual University.","path":["KRS Chapter 164"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=4464","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:18Z","sha256":"7a8c46636dfd452c59965afc072f2d4647e45cebceb68db27f1e06955506e569","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-164.7927","next":"us-ky/krs-164.802"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
