{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-164.810","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 164.810","heading":"Definitions for KRS 164.810 to 164.870.","body":"(1) As used in KRS 164.810 to 164.870, the following terms shall have, unless the\ncontext shall otherwise indicate, the following meanings:\n(a) \"University of Louisville\" means the university which is situated in a city of\nthe first class, and which has hereto fore constituted a municipal university\nwithin the meaning and application of KRS 165.010 et seq.;\n(b) \"Council\" means the Council on Postsecondary Education in Kentucky.\n(2) Consistent with the provisions of KRS 164.026 and Chapter 239 of the 1968\nKentucky Acts, the University of Louisville shall be maintained as a state institution\neffective July 1, 1970, subject to its qualification to receive the benefits of such\nstatus in the manner set forth in subsection (3) of this section.\n(3) The University of Louisville, having been chartered by Chapter 137, Acts of 1845 -\n6, approved February 7, 1846, effective in accordance with its terms on March 15,\n1846; having become subject to the laws of the Commonwealth generally applicable\nto corporations of the same categ ory according to the import of subsection\nseventeen of Section 59 of the present Constitution of the Commonwealth; and\nhaving duly filed in the office of the Secretary of State its acceptance of the present\nConstitution of the Commonwealth in accordance wi th Section 190 thereof; may\nqualify to receive the benefits of its status as a state institution, as provided in KRS\n164.810 to 164.870, by action of its board of trustees in adopting and causing to be\nfiled for public record such proceedings as are required by law, amending its charter\nor articles of incorporation in such manner as to conform to the provisions of KRS\n164.810 to 164.870.","path":["KRS Chapter 164"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=4465","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:18Z","sha256":"295057ed428c502b7465fece8bc8bbc19e8b03b48a1b5b738bb565ef7778db1e","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-164.808","next":"us-ky/krs-164.815"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
