{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-164.945","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 164.945","heading":"Definitions for KRS 164.945 to 164.947.","body":"As used in KRS 164.945 to 164.947, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) (a) \"College\" means any educational facility or institution maintained or\nconducted by any person, association, partnership, corporation, or trust and\noperating as an institute, junior college, college, university, or entity of\nwhatever kind which awards a degree, diploma, or other statement of\nrecognition purporting to indicate a level of collegiate attainment beyond\nsecondary school graduation. This definition includes private c olleges located\nin Kentucky, private colleges located outside of Kentucky but which operate\nin Kentucky, and public colleges located outside of Kentucky but which\noperate in Kentucky.\n(b) The term \"college\" does not include:\n1. State-supported colleges and  universities authorized by KRS 164.100,\n164.290, 164.580, and 164.810;\n2. Emergency medical services training and education institutes under the\nauthority of the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services\npursuant to KRS 311A.020; or\n3. Colleges licensed or approved for establishment and operation under the\nstatutory authority given to the Kentucky Board of Barbering under\nKRS 317.430, the Kentucky Board of Cosmetology under KRS\n317A.030, the Kentucky Commission on Proprietary Education under\nKRS 165A.340, or the State Board of Nursing under KRS 314.121;\n(2) \"Degree\" means any academic or honorary title of designation, mark, appellation,\nseries of letters, numbers or words, such as, but not limited to, associate, bachelors,\nmasters, doctorate, or fellow, which signifies, purports, or is generally taken to\nsignify satisfactory completion of the requirements of an academic, educational, or\nprofessional program of study beyond the secondary school level; and\n(3) \"Diploma\" means a certificate, transcript, report, document, or title of designation,\nmark, appellation, series of letters, numbers, or words which signifies, purports, or\nis generally taken to signify attendance, progress, or achievement in an academic\nprogram.","path":["KRS Chapter 164"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57605","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:18Z","sha256":"73140aef8b6795554b0bf7a9c30b9a5443badf6246a79f4bf90a6d5e779e3d2e","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-164.944","next":"us-ky/krs-164.946"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
