{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-164.948","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 164.948","heading":"Definitions for KRS 164.9481, 164.9483, and 164.9485.","body":"As used in KRS 164.9481, 164.9483, and 164.9485, unless the context requires\notherwise:\n(1) \"Campus\" has the same meaning as in 20 U.S.C. sec. 1092(f)(6)(A)(ii) as amended;\n(2) \"Campus security authority\" means campus police, security officers, and any\nofficial at a postsecondary education institution who has significant responsibility\nfor student and campus activities, including student discipline, student housing,\nstudent judicial affairs, and student life administration. Professional mental health,\npastoral, and other licensed counselors when functioning in that capacity are not\nconsidered campus security authorities;\n(3) \"Crime\" means any crime listed in 20 U.S.C. sec. 1092(f)(1)(F) as amended;\n(4) \"Immediately\" means before the last fire unit has left t he scene in order for the state\nfire marshal to have the opportunity to speak with fire unit personnel before they\nleave the scene, but no later than two (2) hours following the time the fire or threat\nof fire is discovered. In the event of a minor fire to  which the local fire officials are\nnot called or do not respond, \"immediately\" means no later than one (1) hour\nfollowing the discovery of the fire;\n(5) \"Noncampus building or property\" has the same meaning as in 20 U.S.C. sec.\n1092(f)(6)(A)(iii) as amended;\n(6) \"Postsecondary education institution\" means any Kentucky public four (4) year\ninstitution or two (2) year community college or technical college that grants a\npostsecondary education credential, and any private college or university that is\nlicensed by the Council on Postsecondary Education under KRS 164.945 to\n164.947; and\n(7) \"Public property\" has the same meaning as in 20 U.S.C. sec. 1092(f)(6)(A)(iv) as\namended.","path":["KRS Chapter 164"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=47689","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:18Z","sha256":"868075610286b2f233f40d287433995caaead1279da7129eefbc1186f968c34d","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-164.947","next":"us-ky/krs-164.9481"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
