{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-164.975","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 164.975","heading":"Regulation of the use of educational property.","body":"(1) The governing boards of public institutions of postsecondary education, each having\nthe power and authority to govern and control the method and purpose of use of\nproperty owned or occupied by their respective institution, including travel over\nsuch property, is each hereby confirmed in its authority to regulate the traffic and\nparking of motor vehicles, bicycles or other vehicles as well as the traffic of\npedestrians on, over and across the streets, roads, paths and grounds of real property\nowned, used or occupied by such institution. Such regulations applicable to traffic\nand parking may include, but not be limited to, the following provisions:\n(a) Provisions governing the registration, speed, operation, parking and times,\nplaces and manner of use of motor vehicles, bicycles and other vehicles.\n(b) Provisions prescribing penalties for the violation of such regulations, which\npenalties may include the imposition of reasonable charges, the removing and\nimpounding (at the expense of the violator) of vehicles w hich are operated or\nparked in violation of such regulations, and the denial of permission to operate\nvehicles on the property of such institution.\n(c) Provisions establishing reasonable charges and fees for the registration of\nvehicles and for the use of parking spaces or facilities owned or occupied by\nsuch institution. Provided, however, that nothing herein contained shall be\ndeemed to limit or restrict the powers of any other governmental authority\nhaving jurisdiction over public streets, roads, alleys or ways.\n(2) Motor vehicle moving violations of regulations issued under this section shall be\ndeemed violations of the appropriate equivalent sections of the motor vehicle laws\nof the Commonwealth and may be prosecuted in the courts having territorial\njurisdiction over the physical location of the offense.","path":["KRS Chapter 164"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=41828","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:18Z","sha256":"6ff049fe1b3af1439168809f6d8dfa17f3e3ccca040fa4c1a8e1ac6020825532","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-164.970","next":"us-ky/krs-164.980"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
