{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-164.981","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 164.981","heading":"Definitions for KRS 164.981 to 164.9819.","body":"As used in KRS 164.981 to 164.9819:\n(1) \"Autism\" means a developmental disability significantly affecting verbal and\nnonverbal communication and social interaction, generally evident before age three\n(3), that adversely affects educational performance. Cha racteristics of autism\ninclude:\n(a) Irregularity and impairment in communication;\n(b) Engagement in repetitive activity and stereotyped movement;\n(c) Resistance to environmental change or change in daily routine; and\n(d) Unusual responses to sensory experience.\nThe term does not include children with characteristics of an emotional -behavioral\ndisability as defined in KRS 157.200;\n(2) \"Council\" means the Council on Postsecondary Education in Kentucky;\n(3) \"Center\" means the autism training center;\n(4) \"Client\" means a person with the primary diagnosis of autism or autistic -like\nbehavior; and\n(5) \"Expenses\" means those reasonable and customary expenditures related to training\nand treatment of eligible clients as defined in administrative regulations\npromulgated by the council pursuant to KRS 13A.","path":["KRS Chapter 164"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=4519","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:18Z","sha256":"5840654ad7e17371b5b2ba8b6b96c6161b5f23ba853a52d3372e09150182fe49","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-164.980","next":"us-ky/krs-164.9811"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
