{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-164a.040","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 164A.040","heading":"Purpose.","body":"(1) The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky hereby finds and\ndetermines that as a result of the adoption of the education amendments of 1976 by\nthe Congress of the United States, being Public Law 94 -482, it is essential, in order\nthat the Commonwealth of Kentucky may continue to provide adequate educational\nopportunities to all of its citizens and residents, that the corporation be created and\nempowered to finance student loan operations in Kentucky by the issuance of its\nbonds and notes for the purpose of making and purchasing student loans.\n(2) The General Assembly hereby finds and declares further that in the performance of\nits duties, powers and responsibilities, the corporation will be performing essential\npublic and governmental functions and shall be and constitute an independent de\njure municipal corporation and political subdivision of the Commonwealth of\nKentucky for the purpose of promoting higher educational opportunities through a\nprogram of financing, making, and purchasing of student loans.","path":["KRS Chapter 164A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=54150","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:19Z","sha256":"df67a99bd91ab3a612185549c8c180056c0783f5a9b4be399c1614a6a742e8a9","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-164a.030","next":"us-ky/krs-164a.050"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
