{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-165.160","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 165.160","heading":"Municipal colleges in cities with populations of 3,000 or more, except for","body":"cities of the first class -- Establishment -- Board of trustees -- Advisory board\nprohibited.\n(1) Except for cities of the first class, cities with populations equal to or gr eater than\nthree thousand (3,000) based upon the most recent federal decennial census may\nestablish or acquire by lawful conveyance municipal colleges for the purpose of\npromoting public education. A college in a city meeting the requirements set out in\nthis subsection shall not constitute a municipal college or receive support as\nprovided in KRS 165.170 to 165.190 unless it is controlled by a board of trustees\nappointed by the mayor and legislative body of the city, and unless its principal\nwork is the mai ntenance of courses affording instruction in such arts, sciences, and\nprofessions and conferring such certificates of attainment as are authorized by other\nsimilar institutions of learning above the high school grade.
