{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-168.050","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 168.050","heading":"Terms of members -- Vacancies -- Reelection or reappointment.","body":"(1) Effective July 1, 1994, the terms of the members other than the chief state school\nofficer and the member appointed from the staff or personnel of the department\nshall be originally, two (2) members for a term of four (4) years; two (2) members\nfor a term of three (3) years; two (2) members for a term of two (2) years; and one\n(1) member for a term of one (1) year, to be determined by the Governor. Thereafter\nthe terms shall be for four (4) years.\n(2) In addition to vacancies from death or resignation, vaca ncies shall occur upon\nremoval of permanent residence from the Commonwealth; in the case of the elected\nmember representing the department and the board, by change of assignment or by\nseverance from relationship with the department or the board for any reason; and, in\nthe cases of the members representing the University of Kentucky and the state\ncolleges, by termination of the member's membership on the council for any reason.\nVacancies during the term of any member shall be filled for the unexpired portion\nof the term only; and vacancies of elected or appointed members by reason of the\nexpiration of the term shall be for terms of four (4) years each, in the same manner\nas the initial election or appointment, as the case may be.\n(3) Elected or appointed memb ers shall be eligible for reelection or reappointment for\nany number of terms, as long as the prescribed qualifications prevail.","path":["KRS Chapter 168"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=4730","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:21Z","sha256":"90f916c1d42483edd4f90a96a5515eab26abae3a6a9fea5bb19840d0b51e0c01","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-168.040","next":"us-ky/krs-168.060"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
