{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-171.347","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 171.347","heading":"Commonwealth  of  Kentucky  Abraham  Lincoln  Bicentennial","body":"Commission  -- Membership.\nThere  is created the Commonwealth  of Kentucky Abraham  Lincoln Bicentennial\nCommission,  which shall be  attached to the Kentucky Historical Society for\nadministrative purposes. The  commission  shall be  composed  of twenty (20)\nmembers,  as follows:\n(1) Two  (2) members  of the House of Representatives, appointed by the Speaker\nof the House;\n(2) Two  (2) members  of the Senate, appointed by the President of the Senate;\n(3) The secretary of the Education and Labor Cabinet, or his or her designee;\n(4) One  (1) member  from the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet, appointed by\nthe secretary of that cabinet;\n(5) One  (1) member  from the Kentucky Historical Society, appointed by the\nexecutive director of that agency;\n(6) One  (1) member  from the Kentucky Heritage Council, appointed by the\nexecutive director of that agency;\n(7) One  (1) member  from the Kentucky African-American Heritage Commission,\nappointed by the head of that agency;\n(8) One  (1) member  from the Kentucky Humanities Council, appointed by the\nexecutive director of that agency;\n(9) One  (1) member  from the Abraham  Lincoln Bicentennial Commission\nestablished by the United States Congress, appointed by the concurrence of\nthe chairs of that agency;\n(10) The Larue County judge/executive, or his or her designee;\n(11) One  (1) member  from the Abraham  Lincoln Birthplace, appointed by the\nsuperintendent of that national historic site;\n(12) One  (1) member  from the Lincoln Museum  in Hodgenville, appointed by the\npresident of that agency;\n(13) One  (1) member  from the Mary Todd Lincoln House in Lexington, appointed by\nthe head of that agency;\n(14) One  (1) member  from the Farmington Historic Home  museum  in Louisville,\nappointed by the head of that agency; and\n(15) Four (4) citizen members  from the state at large with a demonstrated interest in\nhistory and  substantial knowledge and  appreciation of Abraham  Lincoln,\nappointed by the Governor.\nThe  chair of the commission shall be elected from among  the membership by the\ncommission members.","path":["KRS Chapter 171"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=52399","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:22Z","sha256":"3a7a192defed212cd708eb4c6f0aab04a3f243e2ff9497b8d620b2d8832635b1","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-171.345","next":"us-ky/krs-171.348"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
