{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-171.780","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 171.780","heading":"Definitions for KRS 171.780 to 171.788.","body":"As used in KRS 171.780 to 171.788, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) \"Commission\" means the Kentucky Military Heritage Commission.\n(2) \"Military heritage\" means any peacetime, wartime, or other military activity\nengaged in by any or all of the thirteen (13) original colonies prior to the creation of\nthe United States, activities engaged in by the United States, activities engaged in\nby the Confederate States of America, and activities of the Kentucky Militia, the\nKentucky National Guard, the Kentucky Air National Guard, and any other military,\nquasi-military, or partisan unit operating under the jurisdiction of the\nCommonwealth, or which operated within the Commonwealth. It includes, but is\nnot limited to, the activities of any person who was born i n Kentucky, who was a\nresident of Kentucky, or whose remains are interred in Kentucky as well as the\nactivities of formal or informal military units, paid or volunteer.\n(3) \"Military heritage site\" means any historic geographic site of military heritage\nsignificance declared as such by the commission, pursuant to KRS 171.782,\n171.784, and 171.786.\n(4) \"Military heritage object\" means any building, fortification, statue, monument,\nmarker, work of art, flag, aircraft, field piece, item of military equipment, weapon,\nor other physical object of military heritage significance declared as such by the\ncommission, pursuant to KRS 171.782, 171.784, and 171.786, including but not\nlimited to buildings, sites, and other landmarks.","path":["KRS Chapter 171"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=4858","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:23Z","sha256":"64a85333486c6963e4191b72d48bc8f04610feeaf293eedd4540160f07870edc","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-171.757","next":"us-ky/krs-171.782"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
