{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-171.782","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 171.782","heading":"Kentucky Military Heritage Commission -- Membership -- Request for","body":"designation of sites and objects -- Administrative regulations -- Funding --\nEmployees.\n(1) The Kentucky Military Heritage Commission is hereby established as an\nindependent agency of the  Commonwealth of Kentucky which is attached to the\nKentucky Heritage Council for administrative and support purposes. The Heritage\nCouncil may request and receive additional administrative aid and support from the\nKentucky Historical Society, the Departmen t of Military Affairs, the Commission\non Military Affairs, and the Department of Veterans' Affairs.\n(2) The Kentucky Military Heritage Commission shall consist of the adjutant general,\nthe executive director of the Kentucky Historical Society, the state hi storic\npreservation officer, the executive director of the commission on Military Affairs,\nand the commissioner of the Department of Veterans' Affairs or their designees,\nwhose names shall be provided in writing.\n(3) The commission shall receive requests f or designation of a geographic site as a\nmilitary heritage site and for designation of an object as a military heritage object in\naccordance with KRS 171.780 to 171.788 and the administrative regulations\npromulgated thereunder.\n(4) The commission shall pro mulgate administrative regulations necessary to carry out\nKRS 171.780 to 171.788 and to protect military heritage sites and military heritage\nobjects.\n(5) The commission may seek funding from any source, public or private, and may\nexpend funds for the oper ation of the commission and for the protection of military\nheritage sites and military heritage objects.\n(6) The commission may employ such persons as it deems necessary, consistent with\navailable funding, to carry out the duties of the commission.","path":["KRS Chapter 171"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=44497","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:23Z","sha256":"39d79ccb19e19c8a9ba44679db733199d259d4c66b23019f50093dc0d50e0960","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-171.780","next":"us-ky/krs-171.784"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
