{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-171.812","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 171.812","heading":"Underground  Railroad initiative.","body":"The  commission shall coordinate Kentucky's Underground Railroad initiative in\naccordance  with KRS  171.805. The commission's duties as they relate to this\ninitiative shall include but not be limited to the following:\n(1) Undertake a comprehensive statewide inventory of historic sites related to the\nUnderground  Railroad, and implement a master plan for site protection and\ndevelopment;\n(2) Encourage  and  assist the state preservation officer within the Kentucky\nHeritage Council to nominate significant historical sites of the Kentucky\nUnderground Railroad to the national and state registers of historic places;\n(3) Develop  and operate, in conjunction with the Tourism, Arts and Heritage\nCabinet, a program of public information, education, and promotion of the\nhistory of the Underground Railroad in Kentucky, to include but not be limited\nto implementing and maintaining a Web  site connected to the Tourism, Arts\nand Heritage Cabinet;\n(4) Coordinate with local, state, and federal authorities in project planning that may\naffect Underground Railroad sites in Kentucky and neighboring states;\n(5) Present to the secretary of the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet an annual\nreport and plan for future action; and\n(6) Pursue public and private funds to carry out the duties set forth in this section.","path":["KRS Chapter 171"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=46306","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:23Z","sha256":"a3c347ec9868dea6d23c95238418bba3456c634632a6b805f9f2fc6fa7a6be20","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-171.810","next":"us-ky/krs-171.814"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
